Water
One of the core competences of BIUTEC is sampling and analysis
of the water quality from
• Groundwater
• Surface water
• Drinking and mineral water
• Pond and bathing water
as well as the associated logistics. The analyses include all the
water parameters and potential harmful substances as: heavy metals, alkali and alkaline earth metals,
AOX, BTEX, MTBE, pesticides and bacteriology.
BIUTEC has been assigned since 1992 in the framework of the
Water Quality Improvement Directive the analysis of 6.000 - 10.000 water samples
every year. There are approximately 2.000 sampling points all over Austria from which samples are
taken and analysed according to the legal requirements (see background information
water).
BIUTEC has in this area a wide, several decades long experience
to offer to other European countries and especially to the South-eastern and Eastern European
countries, supporting them in the carrying out of programmes within the
EU Water Framework Directive, 2000/60/EC.
BIUTEC can also provide the planning, consulting, project
development, control and supervision of water treatment plants (filtration, softening by ion
exchange, nitrate reduction by ion exchange, sterilisation by UV-disinfection, removal of iron and
manganese by catalytic filtration, etc.).

Wastewater
Wastewater is the water that has been modified as a result of
being used in processes of treatment, refinement, further processing, production, utilisation,
consumption or provision of services, as well as in cooling, wiping, cleaning, disinfecting or other
nonnatural processes, in such a way that it can influence the state of the waters into which it is
discharged, or can impair them.
BIUTEC offers, apart from the design, consulting and project
development for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants, also the control and monitoring
of treatment plants, function tests, wastewater load evaluation, as well as sampling and analyses of
• Wastewater
• Landfill leachate
• Process water
• Cooling water and perspiration water
Furthermore analysis procedures can be offered for
biodegradability tests in wastewater or fluid matrices (fermentation test, OECD-Screening Test,
CO2-Test, etc.) as well as numerous toxicity tests.
